Why i do this

I found this quote by one of my long-time heroes, Martha Graham, early pioneer of modern dance. Explains why it is not only a pleasure to follow our dreams, but our responsibility.

Martha Graham puts it this way: “There is a vitality, a life force, an energy, a quickening that is transmitted through you into action, and because there is only one of you, in all of time, this expression is unique. And if you block it, it will never exist through any other medium and it will be lost. The world will not have it. It is not your business to determine how good it is or how valuable or how it compares with other expressions. This is why i must write, or dance, draw, create. Even when it gets dark & the message it sends is uncomfortably gloomy. This is who i am. To not write my honest thoughts would not be true to who i am.  My thoughts & dreams may be silly & immature to some, if that also describes who i am, then so be it. As my mother once said, you are a new person every day. Some days i am peter pan in never-never land. And i guess that's ok.
