pep talk to myself

like i used to say to my kids when they were toddlers...

     ..."use your words!!"

Some good scriptures and quotes about using your words, honestly:

Never let us be guilty of sacrificing any portion of truth on the altar of peace.” ~ J. C. Ryle

Colossians 3:9 MSG Don’t lie to one another. You’re done with that old life.

To find favor with God, we need to deal honestly. When we tell the truth, we honor God and build trust with people. We should fear God and be honest, and we can breathe easy.

Psalm 51:6, NIV Surely you desire truth in the inner parts; you teach me wisdom in the inmost place.
Prove

Corinthians 13:6, NIV Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.

Matthew 5:37, ESV Let what you say be simply ‘Yes’ or ‘No’; anything more than this comes from evil.

Psalm 24:3-5, NLT Who may worship in your sanctuary, Lord? Who may enter your presence on your holy hill? Those who lead blameless lives and do what is right, speaking the truth from sincere hearts.

Say what you wanna say
And let the words fall out
Honestly
I wanna see you be brave  (Sara Bareilles)

Love aims at truth.

"Love does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth" (1 Corinthians 13:6). Love is glad when truth is spoken. Therefore love aims at truth. It supports truth.
"Out of much affliction and anguish of heart I wrote to you with many tears; not so that you would be made sorrowful, but that you might know the love which I have especially for you" (2 Corinthians 2:4). Here is an example of how love aims at truth. Paul is filled with love and it compels him to write a letter that was hard, and caused sorrow in him and in the Corinthians. But it needed to be said. So love said it. Love speaks the truth personally and doctrinally.     (Commentary by John Piper)
"Speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in all aspects into Him who is the head, even Christ" (Ephesians 4:15).
now how would you like your words... tongue or text???

yes. use your words.  take a deep breath, and use your words.
